Goodbye Annoying Slideup Signup

If we’ve annoyed you with this sign-up prompt – we’re sorry and it’s gone (mostly)
The only place you’ll find it is on our Spanish property news section – which is what the sign-up actually refers to – receiving a weekly news digest about the Spanish property market.
We made the mistake of adding it to each of our English-language sections and frustrated some of you with it’s continual appearance – sorry about that.
After a visitor clicked ‘close’, it shouldn’t have kept appearing because we use a cookie to make a note that a visitor had requested not to see it again. However, cookies are linked to the web site domain they’re served from – and we had the sign-up form on multiple sub-domains.
The net results was that even though a visitor had closed the registration reminder on one sub-domain, we’d continue to show it to them on another sub-domain – and understandingly, annoy them.
So, we’re sorry about that, and it’s gone now. The only place you’ll find it is on our Spanish property news section – and the cookie lasts two weeks, so you’ll see it only once every two weeks at most.
While we were tidying up, we also moved the most useful footer links to a new position in the RH sidebar.
So now, we have a nice, uncluttered footer for ‘other’ stuff, and a more easy-to-find sidebar with the links you’re most likely to want to see.
